Enemy Images
term used by Marshall Rosenberg - if he found it elsewhere, he most certainly focused the rigor within it through his distinction between strategy and need…The Strategy/Need distinction.
For human beings, conflict exists only at the level of strategy - meanwhile, human needs are universal.
Unless I distinguish my strategy from my need, I will treat my strategy as if it’s my need.
Mistaking my strategy for the need, I can believe that others who don’t like my strategy are ‘against my need’ - since my needs are my connection to life, these others will occur to me as enemies.
@'Jj first heard Marshall use this term in a ~half hour .mp3
example of usage - jumps to 11:18 in Creating a Life Serving System Within Oneself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERfgwrpPfpw&t=678s
